The PET Utilization Task Force was charged with: identifying the factors responsible for the penetration and growth of PET/CT in oncology, cardiology, and neurology; identifying the opportunities and threats regarding PET/CT utilization; and developing short-term goals and long-range plans to increase PET/CT utilization. As a result their efforts, PET PROS as a resource for referring and interpreting physicians to ensure easy access to important information and useful resources. The goal is to provide a one-stop shop for all your essential PET and PET/CT needs and questions.
The SNMMI credentialing statements were developed in an effort to provide guidance for practitioners and institutions regarding the training required to perform, supervise, interpret and report nuclear medicine procedures, as well as related correlative imaging studies.
Continuing quality assurance is an integral part of the present-day practice of medicine. The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC), Nuclear/PET | ICANL (formerly the ICANL) offers accreditation as an increasingly renowned method for Nuclear Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology and PET facilities to evaluate and demonstrate the level of patient care they provide.
Image Gently and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) created the “Go With the Guidelines” awareness campaign to encourage community hospitals, academic hospitals and clinics to observe standardized guidelines on radiopharmaceutical dose for pediatric patients.
Image Wisely was created with the objective of lowering the amount of radiation used in medically necessary imaging studies and eliminating unnecessary procedures.
An SNMMI Technologist Section (SNMMI-TS) Task Force, which was established in 2010, developed a Scope of Practice for nuclear medicine technologists. The scope of practice in nuclear medicine technology includes, but is not limited to, the following areas and responsibilities: Patient Care; Quality Control; Diagnostic Procedures; Radiopharmaceuticals; In-Vivo Diagnostic Testing; In-Vitro Diagnostic Testing; Transmission Imaging; Radionuclide Therapy and Radiation Safety.
A variety of webinars relevant to SNMMI, dealing with topics ranging from new guidelines to how to best comply with the Physician Quality Reporting System.
An assemblage of widely read peer-reviewed publications that focus in nuclear medicine and molecular imagining. These articles will help bring SNMMI members information, reports, and updates on issues related to quality and practice.
